304: Elevator of Death / Levitation Machine
Wednesday Feb 19, 2025
Wednesday Feb 19, 2025
This week the Mythbusters go from falling to flying as they test whether jumping in a plummeting elevator can save your life – and if you can make a leviation machine from nothing but household parts (and an entire machine shop full of experts).
Plus, stay tuned for the show-within-the-show known as Adam Hurts Himself! This episode, Adam hurts himself on a vacuum motor AND a hovercraft! Thankfully he laughs about it, so we can too. Okay, we would've laughed anyway. It's a stellar episode that gives one of our hosts all the joy, and the other all the... feels? Find out why on this week's Try This at Home!

Unpacking Mythbusters' Ancient Death Ray – with Writer Anthony Griffis
Friday Feb 14, 2025
Friday Feb 14, 2025
Earlier this week the guys tackled a legendary episode as Adam and Jamie took on the myth of the Ancient Death Ray. And now Cliff and Harrison sit down with the writer behind the episode, Anthony Griffis!
Joining Mythbusters just after the pilots, Anthony helped shape the voice of the series in its early years and penned countless classic episodes from Ice Bullet to Killer Quicksand and the later Duck Tape Island special. But today it's all about Archimedes as Anthony tells us what it was like working on the classic piece of Mythbusting history – and how the show has remained in his life for the last two decades. Don't miss all the behind-the-scenes details on this week's Try This at Home!

303: Ancient Death Ray / Skunk Cleaning / What Is Bulletproof?
Wednesday Feb 12, 2025
Wednesday Feb 12, 2025
It's a trip through time as Adam and Jamie tackle their oldest tale yet: the myth of the ancient death ray! Could Archimedes have set fire to enemy ships using nothing but mirrors and the sun? We don't know, but we have to admit that's a pretty impressive feat for an owl.
Plus, what's the best way to remove skunk smell? And are books bulletproof? Cliff and Harrison unpack every moment of a legendary episode on this week's Try This at Home!
Be sure to come back this Friday, February 14th, for a special bonus interview with the writer of this episode, Anthony Griffis!

302: Scuba Diver and Car Capers
Wednesday Feb 05, 2025
Wednesday Feb 05, 2025
This week it's out of the gun range and into the fire as Adam and Jamie test whether a scuba diver could be picked up by a firefighting helicopter! Then it's mini myths galore as a slew of automotive legends get put to the test. Can you destroy an engine with bleach? Is a car door really bulletproof? Why do the Mythbusters continuously test explosive things fully inside of an extremely flammable shop?! Get the answers to at least two of these questions on this week's Try This at Home!

A new era of Mythbusters has begun, but first it's time for a look back at what Adam and Jamie got wrong (or right?!) last time around. Adam Savage on the Origins, Early Days, and Secret Sauce of Mythbusters
Wednesday Dec 18, 2024
Wednesday Dec 18, 2024
This week, we're going right to the source. The one and only Adam Savage joins Cliff and Harrison for the first (but not the last?) time to talk his memories of the show we all love. It's a dream come true for our hosts as they pick Adam's brain on the origins of Mythbusters, how the show evolved, and what he thinks made it so special. Plus: Were those really convicts in the back of the deli?! It's the perfect cap to an incredible season of Mythbusting on this week's Try This at Home!
Catch the video version of this episode on our YouTube page. Try This at Home will return in January of 2025. In the meantime, we wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season full of warmth, love, and of course... Mythbusters!
CORRECTION: In this episode, Adam identifies Peter Heap as the cameraman who missed the epic shot of the collapsing scaffold. It actually wasn't Peter. It's been 20+ years, these things happen. But to learn about many of the awesome things Peter DID do, check out his episode of the podcast, airing in April of 2025!

The Voice of Mythbusters - with Robert Lee
Wednesday Dec 11, 2024
Wednesday Dec 11, 2024
All season long, Cliff and Harrison have delighted in the work of the show's lone unseen Mythbuster – a critical presence felt in every episode as he delivers facts, puns, and a few great Adam and Jamie burns. We're talking of course about Mythbusters' iconic narrator, Robert Lee. A professional voice artist for decades, he's the voice in your head anytime you hear the phrase "Busted," and having leant his inimitable (though it hasn't stopped us from trying) style to every single episode of the show, plus the spin off series, commercials, clips specials, and more, he's the longest serving cast member in Mythbusters history.
This week, Cliff and Rob sit down to talk about how he got into voice work, his incredible Mythbusters tenure, and whether or not he ever actually stepped foot in M5. The great guests just keep coming on this week's Try This at Home!

Season 2 of Try This at Home is just around the corner, but before they move ahead in the rewatch Cliff and Harrison wanted to take one more look back at the show they've seen so far – and they've brought along some very special guests to help! This week, the guys cast their votes for the best Mythbusters Side Character, Best Explosion, and overall Best Myth from season 1. Then they chat with writer and producer Andrew Farrell about his time on the show, how he approached crafting an episode, and his memories of the legendary Stinky Car myth. All this plus a few surprises on this season 1 recap of Try This at Home!
